The HOUSE OF FILIGREE, Museum, Atelier and Boutique, was created with a cause:
Safekeeping handmade filigree.
The House of Filigree project was established by Luísa and Pedro Rosas. Their passion for delicate and carefully crafted jewellery runs in the family: they are the children of Maria Luísa and David Rosas, founder of the fine jewellery and luxury watches company that bears their name, and belong to the fifth generation of a family with links to goldsmithery since the mid-19th century.
Two of Luísa and Pedro's great-grandfathers founded two of the most important filigree workshops in Portugal. Nowadays, the current generation is committed to preserving this ancient technique.
THE MUSEUM
The Museum proposes an immersive journey through the universe and history of the art of Portuguese filigree in a permanent exhibition entitled "Portuguese Filigree. From Technical Expertise to Elegant Usage ". With a collection of the most emblematic types of pieces dating from the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, as well as a set of various tools used in their production.
The Atelier
Within our premises, the Atelier, a workshop space, is home to goldsmiths who craft filigree live, whilst interacting with visitors.
The House of Filigree experience would not be complete without experiencing the art of filigree come to life and being able to engage with the artists.
The Boutique
The boutique acknowledges the future of the craft, and our commitment to be a central part of it.
The Heritage collection, which is available to shop, is the result of a carefully crafted reconstruction of traditional jewellery and of the Portuguese filigree imaginary that we want to preserve.
