O FIO QUE NOS UNE
The House of Filigree – Museu, Atelier and Boutique was born in Porto in December 2019, with the mission of protecting the Portuguese filigree of manufacture, as opposed to reproductions made by industrial processes. Our creations give work to goldsmiths, as well as small workshops that were already in severe recession and disappearance, in the pre-COVID19 period.
In the face of this pandemic, which has shook the world, a severe recession and enormous uncertainty are expected to resume these activities in particular. It was in this context, to safeguard a cultural heritage of incalculable value, and a unique and irreplaceable production chain, that we launched the manifest:
#ofioquenosune.
At the launch we count on the incredible support of Catarina Furtado, Cláudia Vieira, Maria Cerqueira Gomes and Raquel Strada, who enthusiastically gave the face and heart for this cause. We now challenge the Portuguese to join her in strength, in defense of an art that is so ours. Because we believe that even from a distance, there is a thread that unites us.
